Youngman Field at Alumni Stadium provides one of the best settings in New England for college football and lacrosse. The stadium is set in the ground with hillsides surrounding the field. The 3,500 seats overlook Middlebury's outdoor facilities as well as the Green Mountains. The form of the Press Booth above it casts an M-shaped shadow on the field during the sunset. Guarding the stadium is a bronze statue of the Middlebury Panther by Lorenzo Ghiglieri that rests upon a great glacial boulder, supposedly the largest single piece of stone moved in Vermont since the Ice Age.
