Carr Hall is a student residence hall and known as the PALANA (Pan African, Latino, Asian, Native American) Center. PALANA has a multifaceted mission, however, one important component is to support and encourage multiculturalism on Middlebury's campus. It also houses the Office of Institutional Diversity, which supports not only PALANA, but all groups whose interests incorporate diversity or multiculturalism. In addition, during the renovations of Starr Library, the Pre-Medical Adviser and Office of Student Fellowships and Scholarships will remain in Carr Hall.
History
Constructed of local limestone to harmonize with Forest and Munroe Halls, Carr Hall was originally used as the Fine Arts Building. It was built in 1951, in memory of Reid Langdon Carr '1901.
