Centeno House is home to the Parton Health Center, a 24-hour facility that treats students for routine and primary health care needs in a timely manner at no cost. It employs a doctor, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses, and is located less than a mile from Porter Hospital, for emergency care. Centeno is also home to the Center for Counseling and Human Relations, a place where students, faculty, and staff can talk to a licensed counselor in a private, confidential setting. The center also organizes outreach programs on relationships, depression, proper diet, coming out, and more.
History
Centeno House, named for the first director of the Spanish School, served as a fraternity house, then a dormitory until 2003, when it was converted to house the expanding health services provided by the College.
