The Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont is a treasure for Vermont history, especially for those researching the history of Middlebury or Addison County. Students may occasionally do internships there, and admission is free with a College ID. It is home to the Judd-Harris House, showing life in nineteenth-century rural Vermont, as well as the Stewart-Swift Research Center, an outstanding collection of documents from the histories of Middlebury, Addison County, and Vermont.
History
The oldest chartered community history museum in the nation, it has been going strong since 1882.
