Stewart is a 5-floor, first-year residence hall located at the heart of the campus that is single-sex by hall. Stewart is situated at the top of the hill next to Hepburn, in close proximity to athletic and dining facilities and the McCullough Student Center. Housing 156 students, consisting of 81 doubles and 2 triples, Stewart Hall offers a great first-year living experience.
History
Stewart Hall was originally erected as a men's dormitory, accommodating 140 students. It was named in honor of the Stewart family of Middlebury, whose involvement with the college dated back to Ira Stewart (trustee, 1819-1855) and his sons: Dugald Stewart 1842 and John Wolcott Stewart 1846, trustee 1858-1915.
