and athletic success at Middlebury
MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—The Middlebury College athletics program is the subject of a five-minute feature on National Public Radio (NPR). The piece aired Saturday, December 18, on the the show "Only a Game," which is carried on NPR stations in more than 30 states.
The feature can now be heard by going to the "Archives" section for December 18, 2004, at the "Only a Game" web site and clicking on the "Listen" button next to "Middlebury College."
NPR's Ron Schachter came to Middlebury in late September to interview athletes, coaches, and administrators. His report discusses how Middlebury athletes and coaches have maintained a balance between sports and academics while enjoying tremendous athletic success.
"There are a lot of good X's and O's people out there," Russ Reilly, Middlebury College's director of athletics, says in the piece. "But our people have done a tremendous job of keeping things in a proper perspective—teaching intrinsic values of sport, along with life lessons."
