MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — The Potomac Theatre Project, which has been based in Washington, D.C., under the direction of Professors Cheryl Faraone and Richard Romagnoli since 1987, will present its 21st repertory season Off Broadway during the summer of 2007.
Twenty-nine students, alumni and faculty from Middlebury College will be in the company for the two productions: “Politics of Passion: the Plays of Anthony Minghella” and Howard Barker’s “No End of Blame: Scenes of Overcoming.”

The celebrated political theatre company that has been nominated for seven Helen Hayes Awards will be in residence in June and July at the Atlantic Stage 2 theatre located at 330 West 16th Street in Manhattan.
“Politics of Passion” directed by Faraone will begin previews June 20 for a June 26 through July 14 run. Cast members include Middlebury students and alumni: MacLeod Andrews, David Barlow, Colby DiSarro, Michael Doyle, Cassidy Freeman, Tara Giordano, Laura Harris, Jesse Hooker, Lauren Turner Kiel, Willie Orbison and Julia Proctor.
“Politics” features three of Minghella’s early, one-act works: “Cigarettes and Chocolate,” “Hang Up,” and “Truly, Madly, Deeply.” Intense inter-personal connections are at the heart of this trio of Minghella’s plays.
“No End of Blame” directed by Romagnoli will begin previews June 23 for a June 27 through July 13 run. Middlebury College students and alumni in the cast are: MacLeod Andrews, Bill Army, Megan Byrne, Caitlin Dennis, Alex Draper, Chris Duva, Lucas Kavner, Julia Proctor, Peter Schmitz, Alec Strum and Sally Swallow.
Barker’s “No End of Blame” is a scathing commentary about the censorship of art as seen through the eyes of a political cartoonist in post-World War I eastern Europe.
Design and production assistance for the season is provided by students and alumni Franny Bohar, Kristen Deane, Andrew Dickey, Aaron Gensler, and Catherine Vigne, along with the college’s resident scenic and lighting designer Hallie Zieselman.

In addition to the main stage productions, the PTC/NYC will offer four late-night experimental pieces and two play readings between July 2 and July 13. Both the experimental theatre and the readings will be free of charge.
