MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — In an effort to share the professional expertise of the Middlebury College admissions staff, we invite high school age children of Middlebury alumni, faculty and staff, as well as students from Vermont high schools, to our annual “Applying to College” workshop. The event takes place Friday, June 6, during Middlebury’s Reunion Weekend.

This program provides an overview of the selective college application process and does not focus on Middlebury College. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon at McCardell Bicentennial Hall and covers four areas of the college application process:

1) choosing a college
2) how to visit a college
3) how a college admits its class, and
4) financial aid.

Following the morning's activities, individual afternoon appointments can be scheduled with both the Admissions Office and with Student Financial Services.

Practice interviews will be conducted at the Admissions Office beginning at 1 p.m. These half-hour interviews are generic and can prepare students for their summer college tours. First priority for interview times will be given to current high school juniors (“rising seniors”) and interviews will be given on a first-come, first-served basis until all slots have been filled. Individual interviews for juniors can be used as part of the official Middlebury application.

In addition, for students interested specifically in Middlebury College, a group information session will be conducted at 1 p.m. and campus tours will be offered at 1 and 2 p.m.

The required registration deadline for Applying to College is Tuesday, May 27. You can register online or call the Admissions Office at 802-443-3000. Parents are invited to all activities.

View the complete schedule and feel free to phone or e-mail the Admissions Office if you have any questions.

Finally, for alumni who are currently Alumni Admissions volunteers, there will also be an AAP luncheon workshop from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Emma Willard House. Please register for this luncheon workshop separately by Tuesday, May 27, with Brook Escobedo, the AAP Coordinator at bescobed@middlebury.edu. AAP volunteers are invited to the morning “Applying to College” workshops at McCardell Bicentennial Hall.
