Professor of Political Science Eric Davis was quoted in the Sept. 11 edition of USA Today in an article titled "Dean's remarks make rivals say: wait a minute."

In the Friday, Aug. 22, edition of USA Today's travel section, an article titled "10 great places to get an A+ in the outdoors," discusses Outside magazine's ranking of the top 40 college towns, which included Middlebury in third place. Middlebury is also included in the USA Today article, which is on the paper's Web site at http://www.usatoday.com/travel/vacations/great/2003/college-outdoor.htm.

President John McCardell was quoted in the Friday, August 8, edition of USA Today and The Gazette (Colorado Springs, Col.), and in the electronic edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education regarding a policy endorsed by the NCAA Division III Presidents Council to cease allowing Division III schools to offer athletic scholarships in those sports in which they compete at the Division I level. There is a story about the Bio Bus in the July 28, 2003 edition of USA Today. The story-"Fuel for thought: Veggie oil: Vermont students get a bus, fill 'er up and hit the road"-describes the cross-country journey of the 13 Middlebury students who drove more than 6000 miles in a 32-passenger bus fueled by used cooking oil. Two photos accompany the article on page 6D.
