On April 2, a story ran about Middlebury College's $125 million impact on the Addison County economy according to a new study commissioned by the College. The story also stated that, in addition to being the largest employer in the town and the county, students at Middlebury and their visitors spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each year in shops, restaurants and hotels. Middlebury College commissioned a similar study six years ago. The results are mostly the same. The school's president says it helps to have concrete information that explains just how much the College contributes to the local economy.
