The NCAA recently voted down the proposed reform that would have barred athletic scholarships for Division I teams at Division III schools. Prior to the vote, President John McCardell, who is also president of the NCAA Division III Presidents Council, which proposed this reform and others, was the subject of a Jan. 12 article in the Baltimore Sun, "Division III vote puts McCardell on spot: Frederick native chairs Presidents Council with vision JHU doesn't share."
