In the March 7 issue of Sports Illustrated, Rick Reilly recounts in his column, "Life of Reilly," stories he's reported on over the last 20 years that he still gets asked about, including the story of Butch Varno, a friend of Middlebury who has cerebral palsy. For 44 years, students have volunteered to pick him up and take him home from varsity football and basketball games. Reilly devotes the last paragraph of the column to Butch.
