The Oct. 5 edition of the New York Times included an opinion piece by Professor of Political Science and Director of the Rohatyn Center for International Affairs Allison Stanger . The piece, which featured charts by New York-based graphic design firm Omnivore, is available online.

The Sept. 30 edition of the New York Times Magazine, which was the "College Issue," mentioned Middlebury College in two articles -- "The New Affirmative Action" and "Tense Times at Bronxville High." 

An article titled "Refeathering the Empty Nest" appeared in the New York Times on Sept. 20 and featured Middlebury College student Maeve McGilloway '10. The article is available online.

The Sept. 17 edition of the New York Times included a "Letter to the Editor" from Professor Emeritus and College Professor John McCardell. The letter is available online.

On Sept. 16, the New York Times Book Review included a review by Scholar-in-Residence in English and American Literatures Sue Halpern of the novel "Love Croatian Style" by Valerie Martin. The review is available online.

A Sept. 2 article in the New York Times Magazine included an article titled "The Former-Insurgent Counterinsurgency," which focused extensively on Lt. Col. Mark Odom, a 1987 Middlebury graduate. The article is available online.

The Aug. 16 edition of the New York Times included an article titled "Q: Who is the Real Face of Plastic Surgery?" The article, which quoted Assistant Professor of Sociology Laurie Essig, is available online.  

On Aug. 8, the American Jewish Committee ran a full-page advertisement in the New York Times regarding the recent vote by Britain’s University and College Union to boycott Israeli academic institutions. Numerous college and university presidents signed the ad, which opposed the boycott, including Middlebury College President Ron Liebowitz. A PDF of the ad is available online.

On July 29, an article titled “The Residential Collage” appeared in the "Education Life" supplement to the Sunday edition of the New York Times and twice mentioned Middlebury and its residential commons system. The article is available online.

Middlebury was mentioned two more times in the July 29 edition of the New York Times "Education Life" supplement: first in an article titled "The New Safeties," available online; and again in an article titled "Strategy: Testing" about SAT scores and the admissions process, available online.

The Potomac Theatre Project received coverage on its inaugural season in New York City in the New York Times on June 24. The article mentions artistic directors and co-founders, Professor of Theatre and Women's and Gender Studies Cheryl Faraone and Professor of Theatre Richard Romagnoli.

Middlebury College was mentioned in a June 15 article in the New York Times on philanthropist Kathryn Wasserman Davis. The article is entitled "A Feisty Philanthropist at 100, With a Five-Year Plan." 

On May 16, a story in the New York Times titled "Ivy League Crunch Brings New Cachet to Next Tier" mentioned Middlebury twice. The story, which also appeared in the International Herald Tribune, is available online.

In the "Educational Life" supplement to the New York Times on April 22, Middlebury College is included in a "Data" column chart of "Colleges with good bottom lines." The chart, from the annual College Board survey, is available online.

An article titled "For the Environment, Rallies Great and Small (and Unusual Attire)" appeared in the April 15 edition of the New York Times and featured Environmental Studies Scholar-in-Residence Bill McKibben and the Step It Up 2007 campaign to raise awareness about global warming. The article, which summarized the nationwide activities of Step It Up Day on April 14.

The March 13 edition of The New York Times included an article titled "Renewing a Call to Act Against Climate Change" that profiled Scholar-in-Residence Bill McKibben and his efforts to generate interest in his Step It Up 2007 campaign. Text of the article is available online.

Middlebury College President Ronald D. Liebowitz was quoted in the Feb 13 edition of The New York Times in an article titled "Division III Seeks Harmony Between Field and Classroom." The article, which included a photo of Liebowitz as well as one of the men's hockey team, is available online

The Sunday, Feb. 4, edition of The New York Times included a commentary in its weekly column "The Boss" by Charlie MacCormack, a 1963 graduate of Middlebury, titled "Embracing the World." The text is available online.

Professor of Economics David Colander is quoted in an article titled "The Future of Economics Isn’t So Dismal" that appeared in the Jan. 10 edition of the New York Times.
