Amy Briggs is a professor of computer science at Middlebury College. She joined the faculty in 1994. Briggs teaches courses on data structures, theory of computation, programming languages, and robotics.

Her current research investigates robotics, computer vision, and computational geometry, with a focus on vision-based navigation. Through grant support, she and her computer science colleagues and students have developed the MiddROVR project—Middlebury College Robotics and Vision Research.

Recent publications include "Expected Shortest Paths for Landmark-Based Robot Navigation," a paper in which Briggs and others (including her husband and Middlebury College colleague Daniel Scharstein) address the issues surrounding landmark-based robot navigation strategies. This paper appeared in The International Journal of Robotics Research in 2004.

Briggs graduated from Dartmouth College and received her master's and doctorate from Cornell University.
