Jon Isham is the Luce Professor of International Environmental Economics at Middlebury College. He joined the faculty in 1999 and teaches courses on environmental and economic issues, and the challenges of climate change and global poverty.

His current research focuses on social movements and climate change, the delivery of clean water in the developing world, and the effects of social capital on environmental and economic outcomes in the U.S. and Vermont.

Isham co-edited the book "Ignition: What You Can Do to Fight Global Warming and Spark a Movement,"  (Island Press, 2007) which draws on theories of social change and presents principles and strategies for building the climate movement. He has contributed opinion pieces to The Burlington Free Press, The Rutland Herald and The Providence Journal.

Isham graduated cum laude from Harvard, served in the Peace Corps in Benin, and then earned his master's in international studies from Johns Hopkins University and his doctorate of economics from University of Maryland at College Park.
