Topics she can discuss include:
  • Eurasian watermilfoil, and biological control of the weed
  • effects of nutrient addition on salt marshes
  • ecological factors affecting community structures

Sallie Sheldon is a professor of biology at Middlebury College. She joined the Middlebury faculty in 1985 and teaches courses on aquatic ecology and ecological relationships.

Sheldon's research focuses on invasive water species in oceans, lakes and streams. She has studied the beneficial properties of the aquatic weevil Euhrychiopsis lecontei, which eats Eurasian watermilfoil, and she has inserted it into numerous Vermont lakes plagued by this invasive plant. She also examines how fish use various habitats, such as aquatic plants, and how human disturbance affects the communities of animals in streams.

She has written articles for Lake and Reservoir Management, the Journal of Aquatic Plant Management, and Ecological Applications.

Sheldon graduated from University of Minnesota.
