Q.: How do I get a Middlebury ID card?
A: Before obtaining an ID card, you must visit the Human Resources office in the Service Building to fill out appropriate employment paperwork. After two working days, go to the Office of Public Safety (on Rte. 30 across from the new library), where they will take your picture and have your card ready shortly.
Q: How do I get a parking sticker for my car?
A: Every vehicle parked on campus must be registered with Public Safety. Go to the Office of Public Safety (on Rte. 30 across from the new library) where you need to provide information about your vehicle and your status (faculty member). You will receive a blue sticker to put on your rear window and instructions about where you may park on campus.
Q: Where can I park on campus?
A: Faculty and staff must park in designated lots. Most lots on campus have some spots that are designated for faculty or staff. For specific locations, please check the Public Safety website at /offices/security/parking/PermitMapregulations.htm.
Q: How do I use my office telephone to make personal calls?
A: Once you have your 6-digit PIN number you can make long distance calls on your office phone. Dial 8 + 1 (personal) + PIN + # + 9 + long distance number. For local calls, dial 9 + local number
Q: When will I receive my first paycheck?
A: Faculty are paid every two weeks. Full-time faculty are paid from July to June; part-time faculty are paid over the term(s) in which they are teaching. Arrangements can be made to pick up checks, have checks mailed to a home address, or deposited directly to a local bank. Faculty may have their paychecks directly deposited in any U.S. national bank by filing the appropriate form with the Human Resources Office. Faculty should contact the Human Resources office (x5465) if they wish to change where they receive their paychecks. The responsible officer for the payroll is Patrick Norton, the College's Controller (x5699). Questions about payroll matters should be addressed to Karen Carpenter, Payroll Manager (x2008).
Q: Will I get a paycheck during the summer?
A: Although most faculty are on 9 month appointments, their pay is spread over an entire year. However, if you are on a part-time term appointment for only fall or spring, your salary will be paid over that period.
Q: May I apply for Faculty Professional Development funds right away?A: A new faculty member may apply for funding for projects beginning July 1, the start of new appointments.
