Middlebury College Grants Office
SERVICES The Middlebury College Grants Office is a resource for faculty and staff, providing information and assistance in the grant-seeking process. The office is responsible for recording all grant activity, ensuring compliance with College and federal regulations for all grant-supported projects, and overseeing the fiscal and reporting responsibilities on institutional grants.
Faculty Grants - support sought for an individual research or professional development project
Institutional Grants- support sought for projects relating to academic program, facilities, student life, or other institutional needs
Electronic Grant Information: Lists of grant funding sources by topic are available through the SERVAL fileserver (VOL1/Campus/FacultyAdmin/Grant). The Grants Office web site includes links to useful funding sources and leave opportunities as well as information about College policies and procedures related to grants and other grant-related information. The web site also has links to IRIS and SPIN -- searchable databases of grant information. Electronic forms for many federal agencies (and some private sources) are available through the Grants Office web site.
INFO – Information Notices of Funding Opportunities: Faculty and staff may register research or project interests with the Grants Office to receive information about funding opportunities related to those interests on an on-going basis. Occasionally, notices are sent to department coordinators or chairs for posting or routing. The Coordinator of Sponsored Research also provides INFO by email to faculty who have signed up for this service; currently INFO notices are sent to the following faculty interest groups: Creative Arts, Environmental Studies, Humanities, International Studies, Research Abroad, Science & Math, and Social Sciences, plus various groups set up for those faculty scheduled for leave in the next two years.
Budget and Grant Preparation: The Grants Office website includes up-to-date information about budget preparation and college policies related to grant budgets and grant proposals. Grants Office staff will provide individual assistance for faculty working on grant budgets and will review grant proposals upon request.
Funding Searches: Grants Office staff will assist faculty in identifying potential sources of support for faculty research or institutional projects. If you need assistance for a faculty project, call Franci (ext. 5889); if you are interested in an institutional project, call Susan (ext. 5197) or Barb (ext. 5199).
