The student orientation period starts on Wednesday, September 3 this year. During orientation some departments hold placement tests and all participate in the Academic Forum, at which students can discuss with faculty members such topics as department and program requirements. First-year students also attend the first session of their seminar during orientation.  Finally, new student orientation includes course registration, at which your department may need your help.

The culminating event of fall orientation is Convocation, a ceremony on Sunday afternoon in Mead Chapel. The faculty, in their robes, march in a procession up from Old Chapel to Mead chapel, between the two lines of new students.
