What Funding Do You Need?

Travel to Professional Conferences:

• FPDF (Faculty Professional Development Fund)

Other travel:

• Travel funds for students to attend conferences (through the Office of Undergraduate Research)

Research expenses:

• FPDF (travel, library fees, supplies)
• UCRF (see below; the fund covers some research expenses as well as student wages)
• Ada Howe Kent grants (applications due in March)

Student research assistants:

1. FRAF (Faculty Research Assistant Fund): for individuals or departments during the academic year):  
  a. Departmental FRAF (if several faculty members will draw on one or two students)
  b. Individual FRAF (if a student will be working for one faculty member)  FRAF Application form
2. UCRF (Undergraduate Collaborative Research Fund): collaborative projects in fields outside the sciences  UCRF application form
3. Summer research fellowships (in the sciences)

Course development:

• Academic Outreach Endowment for Service Learning

• FPDF (up to $150 per year)

Publication subvention: SPSF (Scholarly Publication Subvention Fund):

• Articles: offprints, page charges, permissions
• Books: subvention to press, permissions, indexing, copy editing ($2000 maximum for a book, including all expenses).

Funding for larger projects for teaching and research:

• LPDF (Long Range Faculty Professional Development Program): tenured faculty only, 3-5 years; LPDF application form
• Mellon career initiative grants: one-year projects for Inter-institutional initiatives (with 2 or more other Cluster schools)
