Hispanic Linguistics
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese invites applications for a tenure track position in Hispanic linguistics beginning in September 2009. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching language courses at all levels, as well as Hispanic linguistics, with an emphasis on sociolinguistics in the areas of Latin America and USA Spanish. We are especially interested in candidates who could teach applied phonetics, Latin American dialectology, and history of the language, advanced grammar, and issues of bilingualism. Candidates should be able to teach in English and contribute to the college curriculum outside the department. Candidates should be interested in teaching students from diverse backgrounds and producing scholarship that will enhance a diverse faculty and curriculum. Appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor (Ph.D) or instructor (ABD). Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly work.
