Admission to the Bread Loaf School of English is based on:

  • college transcripts
  • two letters of recommendation
  • statement of purpose
  • writing sample

We do not require the GRE. Because the program is designed to meet individual needs, there is no set of requisites for admission, although an excellent undergraduate record in English and strong recommendations are the surest admission criteria.

Important Dates for Applicants:

January 8 - rolling admission (and rolling notification)
                 for summer 2010 begins
               - 2010 catalog published
Feb. 15     - course registration begins
