Connecting to your Splinter Directory

To connect to your personal splinter directory you must be on campus and connected to the network with a physical (ethernet) or secure wireless (midd_secure) connection.

On a Windows computer

Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and select Map Network Drive. In the Drive drop-down list select the desired drive letter. (In the Geography Department we map personal directories to the W drive.) In the Folder field type:

\\splinter\ggstudents\yourusername

If you are connecting from a personal computer, click Different User Name. Enter midd\yourusername in the User Name field to direct your computer to the midd domain. Enter your password as you normally would. Click OK to exit the Connect As dialog box, and Finish to connect to the drive.

For more detailed instructions consult the LIS manual for connecting to network drives on a Windows computer.

(If you are off campus with an internet connected Windows computer you can connect to the network using the WebVPN (virtual private network).

On a a Mac

Open the Finder by clicking on the desktop. From the Go menu select Connect to Server. In the Server Address field enter:

smb://splinter/ggstudents/yourusername

Click Connect, and enter your user name and password as directed. A new network volume will appear on your desktop.
