Middlebury College awards financial aid based on need to qualified applicants to the Language Schools. During the summer of 2009, 45 percent of Language Schools students received grants, with an average award of $4,874.

To be considered for a grant you must: 1) be accepted by one of the ten Language Schools, and 2) have completed a Middlebury College Language Schools Financial Aid Application, including all other requested documentation. All financial aid is based on financial need as determined by Student Financial Services.

Some facts to consider about financial aid:

It is important that you get your complete financial aid application to us as soon as possible, because our funds are limited and do run out.

You do not need to be enrolled in a Middlebury College degree program to qualify for a grant.

All Language Schools students at all levels of study are eligible to apply for financial aid.

Financial aid is available in the form of grants and loans. Private loans are available for students in non-degree programs.

Summer Language Schools students in Vermont and Middlebury M.A. or D.M.L. candidates enrolled at one of Middlebury's Schools Abroad are eligible to receive grants. Undergraduate students from other colleges enrolled in one of Middlebury's Schools Abroad are not eligible to receive grants.

The procedures for U.S. citizens, Canadian citizens, and citizens of other countries vary widely. You are encouraged to read the application instructions carefully.

Visiting US and Canadian students should complete the Language School Financial Aid Application, all Middlebury Undergraduates should complete the UG Summer Request form and all visiting International Students should complete the Middlebury International Financial Aid Application.

Student Financial Services is committed to help candidates receive the support they need to attend the Language Schools.
