Efraín Franco, from Mexico, is the current director of the Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas at the Universidad de Guadalajara. Professor Franco obtained degrees in Law and Literature, a Masters and a Ph.D’s in Literature and Education from the Universidad de Guadalajara. He has lectured extensively in Mexico, the United States, Ecuador, and Spain. His more than two hundred articles on Mexican literature, plastic arts, theatre, and culture have appeared in newspapers and academic journals around the world. His regular appearances on radio comment and reflect on Mexican and Jalisco popular arts and contemporary culture. Professor Franco is Professor of Dramatic Arts and a full-time research fellow for the graduate school at the Centro Universitario de Arte, Arquitectura y Diseño (CUAAD). A specialist in art and culture from Jalisco, aside from a number of plays he has also published several collections of poetry and books on cultural criticism. His most recent works include: Cultura popular y artesanías jaliciences (2005), Nunca más abril (2001), Crónica de un adiós (2005), and Canto y llanto por San Juan de Dios (2005). He also co-authored Pedagogía Teatral Crítica; Política Cultural: Apuntes y Reflexiones (2007).
