Department of History of Art & Architecture
Through courses across a wide continuum of times and cultures, students of art history not only learn to articulate histories of visual production, but also to think critically about the stakes of artistic creation and objects of culture more generally.
Students have opportunities to craft their study in art history to serve particular interests in museum and gallery work. Course opportunities include Art Museum Theory and Practice, topical seminars utilizing or designing exhibitions in the Museum of Art.
Supported by architectural historians, theoreticians, practicing architects, and the Cameron Visiting Architect program, Architectural Studies involves a rigorous curriculum involving both theory and praxis that forms a cohesive and rewarding liberal-arts major but that also can serve as a pre-professional program
