Library Locker and Carrel Guidelines
Please feel free to contact the Main Library Circulation Desk with any questions.
Library materials must be checked out at the Circulation Desks before storing in a locker or carrel.
Lockers and Carrels are subject to regular inspection and removal.
- Library-use-only materials may not be stored and are subject to removal
- Personal belongings may be removed from lockers and carrels when locker/carrels keys are overdue
Library Lockers
Keys may be borrowed at the Main Circulation Desk on a first-come, first-served basis for 28 days.
- Extended loan of a locker may be requested at the Circulation Desk
- Please return all locker keys by the due date but no later than the end of the semester
- Lockers will be cleared of all contents at the end of every semester
Library Carrels
Faculty Carrels may be reserved through the Office of the Dean of Faculty.
Academic Year
Seniors may reserve a thesis carrel if currently enrolled in a 500, 600 or 700 level thesis/project.
- Eligible seniors may sign up for an available carrel beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Monday following the first week of classes of any semester on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Sign-up will continue as long as carrels are available.
- Look at the map of carrels in the library.
- Download a Thesis Carrel Application.
- Bring the completed application to the Circulation Desk in person
- Bring a Banner Web Class printout to verify thesis status
- Midd ID required
- Borrowing account in good standing required
- Priority for carrel reservations is given to Seniors working on a thesis
- Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis for Seniors not writing a thesis, if there are carrels available
Music and Armstrong Library Carrels
A few carrels are also available at the Music and Armstrong Libraries. Please contact the Circulation Desks (Music x5218, Armstrong x5449).
Summer
Academic Year faculty and staff may reserve student library carrels during the summer semester on a first-come, first-served basis.
Summer Carrels may be reserved by currently enrolled students, or summer faculty and staff on a first-come, first-served basis starting the first day of the summer session. In addition, suites of carrels are designated for group use by individual language schools.
Lost and Found
Personal belongings that have been cleared from carrels, lockers and library public use spaces will be kept in the Lost & Found at the Circulation Desks short-term until sent to the Office of Public Safety.
