Chelsea House Folklore Center Collection

The Chelsea House Folklore Center was located in West Brattleboro, Vermont and was a performance center for regional and international folk musicians between 1974 and 1981. The collection includes nearly 2500 recordings of performances from the Center. Performers represented include folk and traditional musicians from New England as well as other parts of the United States, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, and England. Additional materials include newsletters from folklore organizations, programs, calendars and posters for East Coast folk festivals and coffeehouses.

    David Knox Collection - recordings of the proceedings of the Champlain Valley Fiddler's Association and the Northeast Fiddler's Association meetings Champlain Valley Festival Collection - recorded performances from the Champlain Valley Festival, Kingsland Bay, Aug., 1985 Ed Larkin Dancers Collection - material donated by Ruth Sher documenting the Ed Larkin Dancers, Chelsea, VT. Student field tapes - tapes of interviews and performances, along with some written material, mostly from 1974, 1984, and 1995.
  • Vermont ETV Folklife Project Collection - 61 videotapes containing interviews with and performances by musicians and storytellers living in VT. This footage was filmed by producer Fletcher Fischer with videographer Ron Clark for Vermont ETV's July 1986 series, "Pass It On."
