"We can't wait to get started"

Dear Middlebury,

We're White Whale Web Services of Oakland, California, and we've just been hired by Middlebury to redesign your Web site (and the Monterey Institute's site as well). We can't wait to get started.

Beginning now, and throughout the course of the redesign, we are going to be accepting any and all thoughts and ideas that you, the students, faculty and staff of Middlebury, have to offer. The primary venue for submitting your thoughts will be Middlebury's redesign blog, which we hope you'll visit frequently. But we'll be available in person too.

Because we have a lot to learn about Middlebury, we're bringing our entire 5-person staff to your campus in late April. We'll be taking campus tours, having lots of meetings, shooting photographs and video, and asking and answering tons of questions. We hope you'll make time to join us at some point during our visit.

Our goal is to open our minds to a wide variety of approaches, to set aside any preconceptions we might have about how to design a college Web site, and simply listen to you and your ideas about what the Middlebury site could do for you, your community, and the next generation of prospective Midd kids.

But in addition to bringing your thoughts about websites, we're also going to be depending on you to educate us about Middlebury. Bring us the best ever Slice of the Day. Bring us your Snow Bowl videos. Introduce us to WRMC. We have a sharp learning curve, and need to absorb a lot of information in a short time. So bring it on!

We're very much looking forward to meeting all of you.
