Ian has worked at Middlebury College since he was twelve, spending several years in Dining Services as a Servery Worker, a summer in Armstrong Library at the circulation desk, and a summer in Institutional Research as a Data Analyst. While attending WPI, he worked for a short time in Dining Services as a Web Programmer and a much larger amount of time in Web Services (now Database Applications & Systems) as a Web Programmer.

Ian's primary work involves writing custom web applications for the College. His most prominent projects are the Campus Map, Online Directory, Dining Hall Menus, College Book Store, and GO. He also spends considerable time developing custom forms for Administrative Offices on campus and has contributed several custom CMS Templates, including Faculty & Office Hours and Job Descriptions.

Ian, a self-confessed geek, spends his leisure time playing Magic: the Gathering, a fantasy-based card game with friends in Plattsburgh and Burlington. During baseball season he religiously follows the Sox and regularly attends Vermont Lake Monsters and Mountaineers games. He tries to collect records and has a copy of every Dr. Who episode ever aired (all 28 seasons!), though he hasn't yet watched them all. During the winter he skis recreationally.

Ian was moved to Middlebury at the age of 3 when his father, Jerry, took a job in Middlebury's Music Library. His mother, Barbara, worked for Public Affairs. Jerry now works at Stanford as a Music Librarian and Barbara works in Middlebury's President's Office. Ian is a graduate of Mary Hogan Elementary, Middlebury Union Junior High School, and Middlebury Union High School.
