Laptop Battery Recall - August 2006

As some of you may have heard on the news, Dell and Apple Computer have issued a safety recall of over 6 million laptop batteries.  Among the laptop models included in the list of possibly affected units are several of the models currently in service here at the college.

To ensure that we replace any defective batteries in a timely manner, we have created a web form for you to fill out.

Is your Dell battery model affected?

To determine this, remove the battery from the computer. On the battery is a label with a complex part number. The part numbers listed below would be the last 5 digits of the second number as seen here:

Is your Apple battery model affected?

The Marix below shows what Apple model laptops and batteries are affected. You should compare both sets of numbers (battery model and serial #s). If yours is included, or you are unsure, please go to our Battery Recall Form and submit the requested information, including the FULL 12 digit Battery Serial Number.

Middlebury Faculty and Staff should fill out the online Battery Recall Form 

Fill out the form and submit it. This will add your battery to the Helpdesk's list of batteries to check on. If your battery is included in the recall, you will be notified by the Helpdesk.
