Systems maintenance on Dec. 22, 23, 27 will affect access to mail, web, server, Banner access

Library and Information Services has always tried to perform upgrades and maintenance work requiring service outages with as little inconvenience as possible to our community.

Accordingly, we have scheduled downtime for our central systems during the holiday break. This activity will take place from 12:01am on Saturday, December 22 thru 11:59pm on Sunday, December 23, 2007 and on Thursday, December 27th.

While not everything will be down for this whole period, many systems and network links will be unavailable at times as we apply updates, enhancements and patches to core Central Services and the network equipment serving various parts of campus.

Descriptions of some of the services affected are listed below. Please call the Helpdesk, x2200, with questions or concerns regarding this downtime.


OCELOT/SNOWLEOPARD/TIGERCAT/CLASSES:

  • File services (access to student/faculty/staff user directories, access to departmental folders, class folders.
    If you have files stored on any of these servers and will need access to them during this time period, please copy them to your local computer's hard disk prior to the outage)

Exchange/Outlook E-Mail Systems:

  • Outlook email/calendar services, including access via a web browser.
  • Inbound mail will be queued up and received after the upgrades are completed.

Unix/Web Services:

  • Interactive access to Midd-Unix (ssh, ftp, or as a "file server")
  • WWW services (<www.middlebury.edu>,<community.middlebury.edu>, <cat.middlebury.edu> )
  • The Electronic Directory
  • eCommerce, online forms, MYSql Database Services

Banner/Administrative Systems:

  • Access to the Banner Administrative system and BannerWeb
  • Hyperion Reporting Services
  • FAMIS
  • Resource25

Core Network Equipment:

  • Access to the Internet
  • Access to any on campus resources
