Banner 7 is a signifcant upgrade and includes an entirely new look/feel and navigation for Banner.  To learn more about this new functionality, please review this SCT-delivered PDF which overviews the new look/feel with version 7.

"Tabbed" Forms
You'll find Banner 7 introduces tabs to many of the forms.  This is meant to speed navigation.  While not all forms have tabs now, many of the most heavily used forms do have this.  Over time SCT will continue to add tabs to forms for which this is appropriate.

Screen Resolution Changes
With this version the screen layouts have been optimized for a resolution of 1024x768.  This was done to maximize the use of the screen real estate, reducing the amount of scrolling and navigation between forms for information.  If you are using a lower resolution setting, such as 800x600 you may find that Banner appears to go "off the screen."  You are encouraged to experiment with the 1024x768 setting to determine which you prefer and find most useable.  If you have your Windows toolbar in a location other than the bottom (for example, on the side), you may find a very small amount of scrolling is required.

New Banner Online Help
Banner 7 features a new online help system that contains information about forms and fields, as well as tasks you can perform with Banner.  This help system runs in a separate web browser window, and is available by choosing the Online Help button on the toolbar or the Online Help option from the Help pull-down menu.  Additionally, you can access online help by selecting the Help Center link on the main menu.  This link provides access to help in all the Banner modules.
Tip:  For forms with no help, the Banner online help error page may not appear for Internet Explorer users who use IE's "friendly" error messages by default.  For optimal performance in IE, clear the "Show friendly HTTP error messages" check box that is located on the Advanced tab of your Internet Options.

New Banner Bookshelf
You must upgrade to Adobe Reader v. 7 (Full Version) with this version of the Bookshelf, which is required for the search feature.  An index created in Acrobat 7 cannot be read by a user with Adobe 5 or 6.  To get Adobe Reader, go to: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.  Be sure to first locate your System information in order to select the correct download for your computer platform.  Right click on "My Computer", then choose "Properties" and note the System information, including the Service Pack level.
The link to the SCT-delivered documentation Bookshelf button has been removed from the Banner toolbar.  Instead, you may place a shortcut to it on your desktop from this location on the Ocelot file server, N:\Banner\v7\Doc\bkshlf7x.pdf.

Personalized Display Settings
You'll find you can now modify many of the color settings on Banner forms to suit your own personal tastes and readability.  You'll also find the ability to imbed some personalized links to other resources directly on the main menu, for example, your most used web sites.
