Users of the Middlebury.edu web site can have many different roles in the CMS, ranging from a visitor just browsing the Middlebury College Web Site to an authenticated Content Provider approving content changes and publishing them live. The following is a guideline to the differerent roles in the CMS.
(Note: CP is an abbreviation for Content Provider):
CP Subscribers or Visitors
CP Subscribers can only see content in a channel. They have no editing rights. By default, any unauthenticated user is considered a CP Subscriber until they log in to the CMS. Where content should be restricted (i.e. Midd Only), access by CP Subscribers can be turned off. CP Subscribers are also referred to as Visitors in this documentation.
CP Authors
CP Authors can create and make updates to content. CP Authors can submit their content but CP Editors must approve that content before it is published live.
CP Editors
CP Editors can create and make updates to content. In addition, CP Editors approve the content that CP Authors have submitted for approval. CP Editors must also approve their own content before it is published live.
CP Channel Managers
CP Channel Managers can create new channels, change channel properties, and can do everything that CP Authors and CP Editors can do.
