Page Properties
Name
The Name of a page (posting) is the name that will be used for the URL of the posting in the channel; it may be different from the Display Name.
Example: a page named calendar within the arts channel will have the URL www.middlebury.edu/arts/calendar. A page name should always be lower case alphanumeric characters (a-z, 0-9) and used hypens (-) or underscores (_) to denote spacing. Do not put a space in the name.

Display Name
The Display Name of a page (posting) is the name that will be shown to a person browsing the site. The Display Name is shown in the navigation bars and in list rendering scripts that display postings within a channel. Additionally, the Display Name will be shown in large red text at the top of the posting, under the "breadcrumb trail." Display names can contain any characters, but Web Services advises only using characters in the Latin Character Set (those printed on your keyboard) to avoid complications with some browsers that may not render special characters, especially foreign language characters sets.
Same As Name
When you click the Same As Name button, the text from the Name text box is placed into the Display Name text box. Generally, the Display Name differs from the page name since the Display Name can include other characters, such as spaces, that make it easier to read.
URL
The text to the right of the URL label shows the path to the posting on the CMS. This URL can be entered in an address bar of a browser to reach the posting.
Note: URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator
Template Path
The text to the right of the Template Path label shows which CMS template is being used by the posting. CMS templates contain and display content in different manners.
Description
The Description of a posting will not be displayed with the posting, but will be contained in the code of the posting. The description is read by some search engine robots to determine the contents of the posting.
Publishing Options
The Publishing Options determine when the posting is visible to subscribers (users or visitors to the page, who aren't logged on). If a posting is not published, it still exists on the CMS and is visible to Content Provider (CP) Authors and CP Editors, but not other users. You can use these options to prepare content for a posting in advance of its release date, only publishing it at the time you want it visible.
Start Publishing
The Start Publishing date is the first date the posting will be available to the public. Checking the Immediately radio button will make the posting available as soon as the Page Properties are saved and the posting is Approved. You can also set a date using the text box or by clicking on the calendar control button to the right of the text box. This date must be in the future or you will receive a warning to change the Start Publishing date to Immediately. Stop Publishing
The Stop Publishing date is the last date the posting will be available to the public. Checking the Never radio button will make the posting available forever. You can also set a date using the text box or by clicking on the calendar control button to the right of the text box. This date must be in the future or the posting will stop being published. Owner
When an Author or Editor modifies a posting, they acquire ownership of the posting. Once the posting has been Approved, ownership is set to Everybody, meaning that it can be modified again. The value in this label is for informational purposes and cannot be modified.
Last Modified
The Last Modified label shows the date and time the posting was last edited. The value in this label is for informational purposes and cannot be modified.
Important Page
An Important Page is displayed in the left navigation bar, as a channel in a subsite would be. This can be useful if you want to create a posting at the root of your subsite that behaves as though it were a channel with a single posting inside it. Check the Important Page checkbox to make the posting an Important Page.
Hide When Published
The Hide When Published option removes the page from any navigational menus, even if the Start Publishing date is in the past and the Stop Publishing date is in the future. Subscribers can still reach the posting by entering its URL in the address bar, or by following a link to the posting that has been placed in content.
Web Robots Can Crawl Links
The Web Robots Can Crawl Links checkbox determines whether applications like search engines can visit links within the content of the posting to view related content.
Note: As search engines help users visit our site and related content helps search engines better index our site, Web Services asks that you leave this box checked.
Web Robots Can Index This Page
The Web Robots Can Index This Page checkbox determines whether applications like search engines can visit this page and examine its content.
Note: As search engines help users visit our site and examining page content helps search engines better index our site, Web Services asks that you leave this box checked.
