Introduction

Depending on which templates you are using, there will be either a 4MB or 5MB size limit on uploading documents to the Resource Manager. If your PDF document is larger than this value, you may be able to optimize it to fit within the limit. Some PDF documents contain elements such as uncompressed images which, when saved in a different image format, take up significantly less storage space.

In order to optimize your document, you will need to acquire Adobe Acrobat Professional. This software is available for staff use through contacting the LIS Helpdesk.

Instructions

  1. Open Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  2. Open the PDF.
    1. Click the Open button in the toolbar.
    2. Locate the PDF on your hard drive or on a network drive.
    3. Click once on the PDF file.
    4. Click Open.
  3. Optimize the PDF.
    1. Click the Advanced menu.
    2. Click PDF Optimizer.
    3. Click OK.
  4. Save the PDF.
    1. Locate a save directory on your hard drive or on a network drive.
    2. Click Save.
  5. Close Adobe Acrobat Professional.

Your PDF will now most likely be small enough to fit on the CMS. Try to upload it again using the steps found in the Add New or Replace sections of this documentation.
