Introduction
This button will open the Find & Replace dialog window. You can execute Find & Replace functions in an entire posting or just in a selection of highlighted text in that posting. Find & Replace only works on visible text and will not search underlying formatting tags or HTML.
Common Features
Find
Type the text you are trying to find in the text box to the right of Find. The Find & Replace dialog will search the content area for this text, but not the underlying HTML.
Search
The Search field allows you to choose between searching the Entire text of the posting's content or the Selection only if you have selected an area of content within the posting.
Direction
The Direction field allows you to choose between beginning the search at the current cursor location and looking Up in the posting's content or beginning the search at the current cursor location and looking Down in the posting's content.
Match Case
If the Match Casecheckbox is checked, the search will only find content that matches exactly the capitalization of the text in the Find text box, so if you enter "find me" and check the Match Case checkbox, this tool will not find "FIND ME" or "Find Me".
Match whole words only
If the Match whole words only checkbox is checked, the search will only find words of the same length as the words in the Find text box, so if you enter "search" and check the Match whole words only checkbox, this tool will find "search", but not "searching" or "research".
Find Next
Pressing the Find Nextbutton will move the cursor to and highlight the next instance of the text in the Find textbox in either the entire content area or the selection, depending on the value of the Search field and in the direction specified by the Direction field.
Find
OK
Pressing the OK button will close the Find & Replace dialog and return the cursor to the position it was at before you opened the dialog.
Cancel
Pressing the Cancel button will close the Find & Replace dialog and leave the cursor at its current location in the content.
Replace
REplace with
Text entered in the Replace with text box will be used to replace text in the Find text box when the Replace or Replace All buttons are pressed. If no text is entered in the Replace with text box, and you press Replace or Replace All, the text in the Find text box will be removed from the content selection.
Replace
If the Find & Replace dialog has not yet found the first occurance of the text in the Find text box, pressing Replace will locate the first occurance of that text. Pressing Replace again and each time after will then replace the found text with the text in the Replace with textbox and find the next instance of the text in the Find text box.
Replace All
Pressing the Replace All button will replace all instances of the text in the Find text box in the content selection with the text in the Replace with text box.
OK
Pressing the OK button will close the Find & Replace dialog and leave the cursor at its current location in the content. Any changes made with the Replace or Replace All buttons will remain in the document.
Cancel
Pressing the Cancel button will close the Find & Replace dialog and return the cursor to the position it was at before you opened the dialog. And changes made with the Replace or Replace All buttons will be discarded.
Known Bug: If you press the Cancel button after making a change with Replace or Replace All buttons, you will not be able to search for text using the Find & Replace dialog until you either click Save And Exit or Exit in the Edit Console and then edit the posting again by clicking Edit in the Edit Console.
