Pressing this button will open the Insert Table Drop Down dialog, which can be used to quickly insert tables or to select the Table Wizard, which can be used to design advanced tables.

Insert Table Drop Down

The Insert Table Drop Down allows you to create a 6x6 or smaller table by dragging your cursor over the section of white squares. Depending on the position of the cursor, some of the white squares will turn blue and the dimensions of the selected table will be displayed (for example, a 5x4 Table in the menu above on the right). Release the cursor to create the table at the current cursor location in the content. For larger tables, select the Table Wizard. If the cursor position in the content is within an existing table, the table editing buttons in this dialog below the Table Wizard button will become active.

Cancel

Pressing Cancel in the Insert Table Drop Down will close the drop down menu and return you to editing content without inserting or modifying a table.

If the cell spans multiple columns, it will be split once horizontally. If the cell spans multiple rows, it will be split once vertically. If the cell spans multiple rows and multiple columns, it will be split once horizontally and once vertically.

Edit Table Context Menu

If you right-click inside an existing table cell, the Edit Table Context Menu will appear. This menu has many of the features of the Insert Table Drop Down dialog. Refer to the explanations of those features in the previous section on the Insert Table Drop Down, as their effect will be the same. For the purposes of those explanations, the cursor's position is within an existing table and the current cell is the once in which you right-clicked.

Show/Hide Border

The Show/Hide Border button will turn on and off the dashed cell bordering, which are guidelines to show you where cell boundaries are located. It does not effect any border you have added to the table in the Table Wizard.
