Creating a Roster in the Middlebury Athletics Archive

Step 1: Navigating to the Roster location

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Navigate to http://www.middlebury.edu/athletics
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Log On
  4. Enter your username and password and click Logon
  5. Click Varsity Sports in the left navigation column
  6. Click the name of the sport in the center column
  7. Click Archive in the right navigation column
  8. Click the academic year in the right navigation column
    1. If the academic year does not appear in the right navigation column, contact Web Services with the name of the sport and the year to add.

Step 2: Creating a new Roster PostinG

  1. Click Roster in the center column
  2. Click Switch to Edit Site in the Edit Console
  3. Click Create New Page (Choose Template) in the Edit Console
  4. Expand 0506 Templates
  5. Click Athletics
  6. Click the Select icon to the right of Roster

 

Step 3: Adding Roster Information

  1. If this Roster contains Position OR Event information, click the Show Position/Event checkbox
  2. If this Roster contains Height OR Weight information, click the Show Height & Weight checkbox
  3. Enter the Head Coach's information in the Head Coach textbox
  4. Enter the Assistant Coach(es) information in the Assistant Coach(es) textbox
  5. Enter the Captain(s) information in the Captain(s) textbox
  6. Note that some sports have more than one roster
    1. Men's and Women's roster information is separate for Cross Country and Swimming & Diving
    2. In addition to separate rosters for each gender, Skiing also has separate rosters for Alpine and Nordic Skiing
    3. In addition to separate rosters for each gender, Track & Field also has separate rosters for Indoor Track and Track & Field
  7. Add the players
    1. Click the Insert Player button
    2. If the player has a number, replace the text in the box containing XX with their number
    3. Enter the player's full name by replacing the text in box containing <Name>
    4. If the player has a year, replace the text in the box containing <Year> with Fr., So., Jr., or Sr. depending on their year
    5. If the player has a position or event, replace the text in the box containing <Position/Event> with their position or event description
    6. If the player has a height, replace the text in the box containing <Height> with their height, including units
    7. If the player has a weight, replace the text in the box containing <Weight> with their weight, in pounds
    8. If the player has a previous school, replace the text in the box containing <Previous School> with their previous school
    9. If the player has a hometown, replace the text in the box containing <Hometown> with their hometown.
    10. If the player has a photo, select the photo from the Select an Image drop down dialog. The photo must be in the default Resource Gallery for this roster.
    11. If the player has a profile, other than a Captain's Profile, enter that profile in the Profile Text edit window.
    12. If the player is a Captain, check the Is a Captain checkbox
      1. If the player is a Captain and you wish to display a numeric graduation year, replace the text in the box containing <Grad Year> with their graduation year.
      2. If the player is a Captain and you wish to display their academics major, replace the text in the box containing <Major> with their academic major.
      3. If the player is a Captain and you wish to display an additional profile specific to them being a Captain, enter that profile in the Captain's Profile edit window.
    13. Click the Update Player button
    14. Repeat this step until all player information has been entered

Step 4: Saving the Posting

  1. Click Save New Page in the Edit Console
  2. Enter a name for the posting in the Name field
    1. If this is the only roster for this sport, enter default as the name
    2. If this sport has Men's and Women's rosters, enter mens for a Men's roster and womens for a Women's roster
    3. If this sport is Skiing
      1. Enter mens_alpine for a Men's Alpine roster
      2. Enter mens_nordic for a Men's Nordic roster
      3. Enter womens_alpine for a Women's Alpine roster
      4. Enter womens_nordic for a Women's Nordic roster
    4. If this sport is Track & Field
      1. Enter mens_outdoor for a Men's Track & Field roster
      2. Enter mens_indoor for a Men's Indoor Track roster
      3. Enter womens_outdoor for a Women's Track & Field roster
      4. Enter womens_indoor for a Women's Indoor Track roster
  3. Enter the Display Name for the posting in the Display Name field
    1. The Display Name is specified as [<GENDER>'s] [<SUBSPORT>] <SPORT> Roster
    2. Examples:
      1. Men's Track & Field Roster
      2. Baseball Roster
      3. Women's Basketball Roster
      4. Women's Alpine Skiing Roster
  4. Click OK
  5. Click Approve in the Edit Console
