We are waiting to hear from Sungard, our Banner vendor, as to whether Internet Explorer 7 works with all functions of the Banner product. For this reason, we recommend that you DO NOT upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 at this time and we do not yet support the use of Internet Explorer 7 with the CMS.


Required Internet Explorer Settings (IE 6.0)

  1. Click 'Tools', 'Internet Options'. 
  2. On the 'General' tab, click 'Settings' in the 'Temporary Internet Files' section.
  3. Select 'Every visit to the page', drag the slider to 1MB, then click 'OK'.
  4. Now click 'Delete Files' (same tab, section) and check 'Delete all offline content', then 'OK'.
  5. You may need to reboot your computer for these changes to help.

Required Internet Explorer Settings (IE 7.0)

Temporary Internet Items

  1. Right click the gray area in the tab list to the right of all tabs, but left of the home icon and select 'Menu Bar'.
  2. Click 'Tools', 'Internet Options'.
  3. On the 'General tab, click 'Settings' in the 'Browsing History' section.
  4. Select 'Every time I visit the webpage', enter 8 in 'Disk space to use', then click 'OK'.
  5. Now click 'Delete Files' (same tab, section) and click 'Delete all...', check the check box in the dialog, then click 'OK'.
  6. You may need to reboot your computer for these changes to help.

Adding Middlebury to your Trusted Sites

  1. Click 'Tools', 'Internet Options'.
  2. Click the Security tab and the Trusted Sites box.
  3. Click 'Sites'
  4. Type *.middlebury.edu and click 'Add'
  5. Uncheck 'Require https for all sites in this zone'.
  6. Click 'OK'
  7. Click 'Custom Level'
  8. Scroll down to 'Scripting' and click 'Enable' under 'Allow programmatic clipboard access'.
  9. Click 'OK', then click 'OK' on the 'Internet Options' dialog.

Macintosh

MacOSX users may download the Remote Desktop Client and connect to the application server: COAL 

You now have Windows on your Mac, just launch Internet Explorer and start editing.

And Beyond

Web Services does not officially support editing MCMS content on the following platforms. However, we can offer these suggestions that you are free to try on your own.

Linux

Linux users can use the rdesktop software package in conjunction with either Krdc for the K Desktop Environment (KDE) or the Terminal Server Client for GNOME to connect to the application server: COAL.

You now have Windows on your Linux, just launch Internet Explorer and start editing.
