The list of browsers below are those that you can use to view content on the Middlebury College CMS. Other web applications hosted by Middlebury College may have different requirements than listed here. Incompatible Software
Netscape 4.x, all platforms. Please upgrade if you are using Netscape 4.x or older.
Browser Specific Rendering Issues
Web Services is actively working to ensure that the Middlebury College web site looks the same no matter which software you're using. Occasionally, a browser will display the page in a way that may not be consistent with our design. While we look for further solutions, you can use the following measures to correctly view our site.
Firefox
Font Size: The font size may appear to be too small when first loading the Middlebury College website. To fix this problem, follow these steps:
- Open Firefox.
- Click the Tools menu.
- Click Options.
- Click Content at the top of the new window.
- In the Fonts & Colors section:
- Set Default Font to Times New Roman
- Set Size to 16
- Click OK.
Compatible Software
We support versions of browsers released by major companies or browser development teams for the time that the browser remains supported by its vendor. We encourage our users to update their browsers to the latest stable version for better security and support for new web technology. Each of the browsers below is available for all major operating systems, except Internet Explorer, which is only supported on Windows and Safari, which is only supported on Windows and OS X.
- Internet Explorer 6 (ending June 30, 2010)

- Firefox 2 (ending December 31, 2008)
- Firefox 3
- Safari 3
- Opera 9
Note that we do not support "beta" versions of browsers, including Internet Explorer 8 and Google Chrome. When these browsers have full releases certified by their vendors, we will ensure that the Middlebury College website renders correctly in them.
Also note that Internet Explorer 5, Internet Explorer for Mac, Firefox 2, and the Netscape browser are no longer supported by their vendors and, therefore, may not render our website correctly. We encourage you to download and install a supported browser from the list above.
