RECORDING OF LECTURES
Lectures and other public events may be recorded in audio or video formats and archived on the Middlebury College Web site. The person making the request must have written permission from the performer or lecturer and must submit a Recording Request Form to Media Services at least 48 hours in advance. This service is limited to availability of equipment and technical personnel and consideration should be given to the reason for making the recording. It should also be noted that all locations are not equally suitable for the purpose of making usable recordings.
The coordinator of a lecture or special event should thoroughly discuss other equipment and service needs with the lecturer before making a request to reserve equipment or technical assistance. Special attention should be paid to details.
If video is to be used, questions to be asked are: what format (miniDV, DVD, DV-cam, VHS, etc); for film: silent or sound speed, 16mm or 35mm. Please keep in mind that, although you have reserved the location and equipment for your event, you must request a trained A/V assistant to operate the equipment if needed. Please make requests at least 48 hours in advance to Media Services.
SOUND SYSTEMS
Although the majority of public meeting spaces and events do not require sound amplification, Media Services can set up and operate sound systems for large public events. It is important to consider the need for a sound system, as it can interfere with the original intent of the meeting or event. Please make requests at least 48 hours in advance to Media Services.
