Books on physics and astronomy subjects in Middlebury College Libraries are assigned Library of Congress classification numbers that group them together by their major subjects.
Pure astronomy and physics books are classified in QB and QC, respectively, and electronics materials are classed in TK.
Books on a particular subject can be identified in MIDCAT by doing any one of three different types of searches.
- Subject heading searches yield up materials by their major focus.
- Call number searches, such as qc157, are equally powerful, but click first on the "Other Searches..." button, then on the "Call Number" button.
- Keyword searches are useful in fields where subject headings have not caught up with the current terminology, but keyword searches can retrieve material unrelated to your interests.
Students, faculty and staff who cannot locate a desired book in the Middlebury College Libraries can borrow most books through Interlibrary Loan.
