UN Statistical Yearbook

UN Monthly Bulletin of Statistics (password needed)
International statistics, usually given for the last several years and for last year by month. Includes gross domestic product, labor force, prices, industry, mining, energy, manufacturing, construction, finance (money supply, government bonds, discount rates, short-term rates, gold reserves), trade, transport and population. To use, call Reference Desk at ext. 5496 for username and password.
Penn World Table
The Penn World Table provides purchasing power parity and national income accounts converted to international prices for 168 countries for some or all of the years 1950-2000. Produced by the Center for International Comparisons at the University of Pennsylvania. This link is to the easier to use interface from CHASS-Univ. of Toronto.
Lexis-Nexis Statistical Universe

Statistical Universe locates statistics by subject. PowerTables include full-text. Search Abstracts allows users to search summaries of statistical publications, then link to the full-text of selected publications on Statistical Universe and government Web sites. Links provides annotated links to other Web sites with statistics.

IMF International Financial Statistics (CD-Rom)
IMF survey of major financial statistics. Obtain at the Reserves desk(call# HG61 I5) and load on a computer in the lab (Insert in drive, when it automatically opens, click on the installation button.  Choose single-user, retrieve data from CD). ICPSR
The Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) provides access to a large archive of social science data files for use with statistical software, such as SAS or SPSS.  For assistance in downloading, contact Mike Lynch (ext. 5205).
World Bank Africa Database 2000 (CD-Rom)
Obtain the CD-Rom at the Circulation Desk. You will need to load it on a PC in one of the library labs. Contains close to 1,200 macroeconomic, sectoral, and social indicators covering 53 African countries. Time series include data from 1965-2002.  Call number HC800 .A1 W677
