Most of the videos and DVDs in the Library do not include public performance rights. These rights are needed if:
- You plan to show a film for your club or student organization, or
- A screening is open to the public. This includes an instructor showing a video as part of the curriculum, but inviting people who are not enrolled in the class to attend. It also includes small groups who want to view a movie for entertainment in a public space.
Public performance rights are not needed for classroom-related screenings or private screenings in your room with a group of friends.
If you need to obtain public performance licensing for an event, please contact Charlotte Chase or Doug Adams at the Center for Campus Activities and Leadership (CCAL) in McCullough Hall, ext. 3108.
Some videos in the library do include public performance rights. Please inquire at the Info Desk, ext. 2000, for further information.
Films or videos screened for entertainment purposes, or for which the College has non-theatrical public performance rights, may be advertised and promoted only on campus (which includes WRMC-FM, the Campus, and the alumni magazine). None of this promotion may say that the public is invited, nor will there be separate admission prices for ID and non-ID card holders. In general, all off-campus promotion is prohibited, including posters and flyers, unless for those specific titles for which the College has obtained rights.
