Meriem Sahli has a B.A. in English literature and linguistics from the Faculty of Letters at Mohammad V University in Morocco. From 1995 to 2000, Meriem worked with Arab immigrant children in Denmark as a teacher of Arabic, English, and Danish, as a translator and interpreter, and as an advisor for Arab parents, teachers, and administration. In 2001, she completed her M.A. in teaching English as a second language at the Department of Linguistics and English Language Teaching at Lancaster University. Since 2003 Meriem has served as lecturer of Moroccan colloquial Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic at Al-Akhawayn University in Ifrane where she has taught Arabic, held workshops for new faculty on teaching Arabic as a foreign language, and developed new courses on business Arabic. Currently she is working on a listening project for advanced learners of Arabic. Her main research interests are curriculum development, use of CALL in teaching Arabic, and contrastive rhetoric.
