Sadam Issa earned his bachelor’s degree in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) from the Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2003. He joined the graduate school at the same university and earned his master’s degree in 2006. He came to the United States on a Fulbright scholarship and taught Arabic at Beloit College in Wisconsin from 2006 to 2007. He joined the graduate school at the Department of African Languages, Literature, and Linguistics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he earned his M.A. in linguistics and is now pursuing his Ph.D. in the same field. His research interests range from discourse analysis, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics to classical rhetoric, political rhetoric, and persuasion. Currently, he is a teaching assistant in Arabic in the same department.
