Luehrman, Sarah PolingLuehrman, Sarah Poling

Sarah is an Italian-Political Science major at Middlebury College, and will graduate in May 2008. She signed up for Italian 101 as a freshman at Middlebury and was hooked after just a few classes. After two years of study at the College, she completed Level 3 at the Middlebury Italian School in the summer of 2006. She left a week after the end of the program for the Università degli Studi di Ferrara in Italy, where she is studying at the Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia until February 2007. Since her arrival in Ferrara, she has discovered a love for drinking real caffé and running Italian road races.

While her cultural identity is currently under discussion, Sarah can at least affirm that she was born and raised in Boston, MA with a brief sojourn in Lausanne, Switzerland, where she was sent to French school at the age of nine without knowing a word of French (fortunately, she learned quickly). She feels indebted to Middlebury College, the Middlebury Italian School and the Middlebury School in Italy for the expert language instruction and endless encouragement they have provided throughout her study of Italian.
