ANTONELLO BORRA, is Associate Professor of Italian at the University of Vermont. He received his Laurea in Lingue e letterature straniere from the University of Torino with a dissertation on T.S. Eliot and holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Brown University. He is the author of Guittone d’Arezzo e le maschere del poeta (2000) as well as of several articles on contemporary Italian poetry. His work on language pedagogy includes the volumes Italian Through Film (2003), Italian Through Film: The Classics (2006), both authored with Cristina Pausini, and Trame (2009), an anthology of contemporary Italian writing edited with Cristina Pausini and Cristina Abbona Sneider. Also a practicing poet and translator he is a regular contributor to magazines and journals in both Italy and the U.S. His publications include the poetry volumes Frammenti di tormenti (prima parte) (2000), Frammenti di tormenti (seconda parte) (2006), and Alfabestiario (2009) as well as a co-translation of two autobiographical novels from the German of Johannes Hoesle. He is currently working on several projects including a critical volume on Italian poetry in the Eighties and an anthology of expatriate Italian poets.
