António Ladeira is a native of Portugal. He received his Ph.D. in Hispanic Languages and Literatures with a concentration in Portuguese and Brazilian Literatures of the 19th and 20th centuries from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  He was a lecturer of Lusophone literatures at Yale University from 1997 to 2002.  He is currently Associate Professor of Portuguese and Director of the Portuguese program at Texas Tech University.  He implemented and directs his University's summer abroad program in Brazil (Salvador, Bahia).  He published three books of his own poetry in Portuguese.  He likes to play soccer. António will be teaching Portuguese Level 4, a module on the Media of the Portuguese-speaking world, and a graduate class on Literature and Film of the Portuguese-speaking world.
